Mission

To achieve a quality of life for residents of long-term care facilities that we would want for ourselves.

We propose to accomplish this by working within and/or advocating for changes to existing State and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines governing the administration of nursing homes and other licensed long term care facilities in the State of Illinois.

Vision

Residents in long-term care facilities are treated with dignity and respect and their need for quality care and the right of choice are recognized as priorities.

Residents have the care necessary to attain or maintain their health and well being at the highest practicable level of functioning possible.

Residents have the right to choice and freedom to the maximum extent possible.

Residents live in a homelike environment with the comforts of home, the best quality of long-term care available, with the support of family, friends, and the community.

A network of family councils representing all LTC facilities is empowered to achieve the TLC in LTC mission by cooperation with facility administrators, other agencies and organizations, and by educating state officials and lawmakers.

Through family councils, support is provided for family and friends of residents living in facilities.

Purpose

The purpose is to establish a coalition of family councils; residents; families and friends of nursing home residents; and other interested individuals and groups focused on the promotion of health, welfare and quality of life of persons living in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
