TLC in LTC is proud to announce the
second nationally recognized
Family Council Day
on October 11, 2003

Family Council Day is a day to recognize the families and friends who organize in family groups or councils to advocate for their loved ones and work cooperatively with nursing homes to make positive changes in all aspects of care.

The involvement of families and friends is essential to assuring residents receive the care they need and have the quality of life we would all want. Families and residents benefit when families come together in family groups or councils--independent (self-led and self-determining) groups of families.

Donna Rechner, member of TLC in LTC, states, "I have seen nursing home care improve when families have come together and actively participated in facility life. I would want everyone to experience the support a family group can offer."

Every family with a loved one in a nursing home is encouraged to participate in a family council.

Family members and friends of residents are cordially invited to an informational coffee in celebration of Family Council Day.

Join TLC in LTC for coffee, refreshments and empowering information on how families can improve their loved ones' care in nursing homes through family groups or councils.
